Visiting Ponderosa RV Resort will take you back to the California Gold Rush
days. The resort itself is filled with wildlife and borders the south fork of
the American River, where gold is still panned today. The Gold Discovery State
Park is right down the road. It offers a working replica of Sutter's Mill as
well as a museum and interesting demonstrations of life back in the days when
gold was first discovered. Relax under the pines, take a kayak or raft trip
down the river, or travel through the surrounding countryside, which contains
many historic sites that are open to the public.
